Yoerky Sanchez appointed director of Cuban newspaper Granma

Havana, Sep 24 (Prensa Latina) Yoerky Sanchez Cuellar was appointed, by agreement of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (CCPCC), as director of Granma newspaper.

The secretary of organization of the CCPCC, Roberto Morales, announced on the social media platform X that Yuniel Labacena will replace him as director of the newspaper Juventud Rebelde.

“Congratulations to both of them and recognition to Dilbert Reyes, who remains deputy director of the Official Organ of the Party,” he added.

Yoerky Sanchez was an Adjunct Professor at the Faculty of Communications of the University of Havana, with the rank of Assistant, and completed a Diploma in Public Administration at the Higher School of State and Government Cadres.

He has been a member of the Party’s Central Committee since 2016 and a deputy to the National Assembly of People’s Power since 2003, where he served as vice president of the Permanent Commission for the Work of Children, Youth, and Equal Rights for Women from 2013 to 2018.

In 2017, he became editor of the newspaper Juventud Rebelde and was elected to the Council of State in 2018.
