According to Euskadi-Cuba, the Cuban emigration associations in the Basque Country Sierra Maestra and Desembarco del Granma, as well as Errondabide, will participate as sponsors of the event.
It is a solidarity event, with a roundtable discussion entitled “Zer gertatzen da Kuban? (What is happening in Cuba?) Blockade, public health, and urgent solidarity.”
The idea is to update Basque people on the difficult situation Cuba is experiencing due to the intensification of the economic suffocation measures of the Donald Trump administration.
Likewise, a partial assessment will be made of the solidarity campaign led by the Basque union LAB-Langileon elkartasunez blokeoa hautsi! (Break the blockade through workers’ solidarity), an initiative aimed at collecting medical supplies and funds for the purchase of pacemakers for the island at the union’s 22 headquarters and health centers.
Two ways were enabled to make financial contributions specifically for the purchase of pacemakers for the Cuban health system: by bank transfer or through the Spanish Bizum system.
