Havana, Sept 26 (Prensa Latina) The Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced the death in this capital of U.S. citizen Joanne Deborah Byron.

The Foreign Ministry clarified that Joanne, popularly known as Assata Shakur, died yesterday “as a result of health problems and her advanced age.”

Assata Shakur was a notable figure in American political history, known for her ties to the Black Panther Party and the Black Liberation Army during the civil rights movement.
