In a press release, the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) detailed late last night that immediate actions, along with strategic maneuvers and remote control, allowed service to be restored to the 2,276,000 affected users.
According to the company’s social media account, the restoration in the states of Campeche, Yucatan, and Quintana Roo occurred gradually, reaching 100% of the population within six hours and 21 minutes.
The CFE will conduct the “necessary technical analysis to determine the root cause and prevent the recurrence of such events” in order to comply with President Claudia Sheinbaum’s instructions and inform “society as appropriate.”
On Friday afternoon, Energy Secretary Luz Elena Gonzalez stated that, as a result of maintenance work, a failure occurred on a transmission line, affecting nine power plants that generate 2,174 MW.
At 4:18 p.m. local time, the line had been restored, and specialists were working to restore service over the next few hours.
