Peruvian youths protest and call for participation from other sectors

Lima, Sep 27 (Prensa Latina) Generation Z youth movement will protest again in the Peruvian capital and other cities, according to a call that also asks for the participation of social organizations and other sectors.

The protesters, as in the three previous protests, will gather today and tomorrow to march with anti-government flags and signs to San Martin Square, in the heart of the city.

“This struggle is not just for young people; it’s for everyone, and therefore, we call for the unity and strength of transporters, merchants and markets, teachers and universities, the health sector, professional associations, engineers, and other struggle fronts,” the document states.

The call demands the impeachment of President Dina Boluarte, who yesterday stated in a public event that “we don’t want more social conflicts, we don’t want disorder because we won’t allow it either” and called for dialogue.

Generation Z is also demanding the restructuring of the National Police and called on social activists and collectives, former members of the Armed Forces, supporters’ clubs of the traditional football clubs Alianza Lima, Universitario, Cristal, Sport Boys, and others, as well as “self-organized groups from every corner of the country,” to mobilize.

The protest will demand the rejection of the private pension system, corruption, and insecurity in the streets, and unite under the slogan “The people rise up!”

On the other hand, urban transportation companies announced that they will continue their marches after two days in which several of them attempted to take their buses to the Legislative Palace to demand safety for drivers, in the face of constant murders by extortionist hitmen.
