“It’s time to let Cuba live,” headlined one of the commentaries, predicting a resounding victory, for the thirty-third time, in the United Nations General Assembly vote on the resolution against the blockade of the Caribbean nation.
The Patriot highlighted statements by Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez, describing the blockade as a flagrant, massive, and systematic violation of the human rights of the people, and the longest-standing unilateral coercive measure in history.
According to this article, Cuba’s struggle is a battle for survival and sovereignty, not only for Cuba, but also for the Global South and Africa.
Meanwhile, in the same issue of The Patriot, columnist Mafa Kwanisai Mafa dedicates his column “Decolonizing the Mind” to the Caribbean country’s unwavering resistance to what he called the criminality of the United States.
It is a war against a nation’s right to choose its destiny, at the cost of causing hunger, blackouts, and social problems, the publication stated.
It also pointed out that the blockade is genocide, designed to destroy, deprive children of medicine, deny electricity to hospitals, and obstruct the food supply—crimes against humanity.
