According to a report by the National Institute for Development Information (INIDE), the open unemployment rate stood at 2.2 percent, a decrease of 0.8 percent compared to August 2024, and 0.2 percent compared to the previous month.
The document also detailed that the general unemployment rate, an indicator that measures employed people seeking additional employment, fell to 5.7 percent, with a decrease of 1.6 percentage points year-on-year and 0.8 percent compared to July.
Regarding underemployment, the INIDE report placed this indicator at 38.0 percent nationwide, representing a decrease of 0.9 percentage points compared to the same period in 2024.
Labor force participation reached 66.1 percent, a figure that reflects a slight decrease of 0.2 percentage points compared to August of last year, although with an increase of 0.4 compared to the previous month.
These figures confirm the recovery and dynamism of the Nicaraguan economy in recent years, supported by policies to promote employment, investment in infrastructure, and the promotion of strategic sectors.
