Armenia denies Azerbaijan’s conditions for peace agreement

Yerevan, Oct 3 (Prensa Latina) Armenia does not agree with several of Azerbaijan's preliminary conditions for signing a peace agreement, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan stated.

“The Azerbaijani side imposes certain preliminary conditions, but we do not share that agenda.

However, before the final signing ceremony of the peace treaty, there are processes underway or that may develop before the signing, such as the possibility of greater mutual tolerance and prospects for cooperation in international forums,” the Minister noted.

The Armenian Foreign Minister also told the press that the construction of the railway line between Armenia and Azerbaijan could take at least two years.

“If we talk about railway transport, according to expert estimates, its construction could take, for example, at least two years.”

Mirzoyan added that Yerevan is very interested in the accelerated construction, opening, and resumption of transport between Armenia and Azerbaijan, as it is one of the main beneficiaries, as they will be able to send and receive goods using Azerbaijan’s infrastructure and territory.

On August 8, following a trilateral meeting with US President Donald Trump in Washington, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan signed a joint declaration on a peace agreement between Baku and Yerevan.

They also agreed to create a transport corridor between the two nations.

Armenia granted the United States the right to manage the corridor for a period of 99 years.
