The Commerce Ministry stated that it will closely monitor the proceedings and urged Mexico to respect the World Trade Organization (WTO) rules and guarantee the Chinese companies’ legitimate rights.
The Chinese side noted that Mexico has initiated 11 such investigations in 2025, almost double the number recorded last year, while Beijing has acted prudently in implementing trade defense measures.
It added that, in the context of the imposition of tariffs by the United States, countries must oppose unilateralism and protectionism, and not accept restrictions against China under external pressure.
The Ministry also informed that, in accordance with the Foreign Trade Law and provisions on trade barrier investigations, it has initiated proceedings regarding Mexico’s proposal to increase tariffs and impose other trade and investment restrictions.
China warned that, depending on the results of the investigation and the circumstances, it will take all necessary steps in the trade and investment fields to safeguard the legitimate interests of its companies.
