Spain mobilizes in support of Palestine

Madrid, Oct 3 (Prensa Latina) A student sit-in at Madrid Complutense University, a camp in Barcelona, and numerous rallies in the Basque Country are among the actions in Spain in support of Palestine.

Also in several places in Madrid, drives that began yesterday are being repeated, and although the new union call is for this Saturday, people are spontaneously continuing marches against Israel’s interception of the Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF).

“Palestine will win from the river to the sea,” hundreds of protesters shouted in front of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in Madrid.

Former Spanish Prime Minister Felipe Gonzalez said at a conference in Lanzarote, Canary Islands, that he distrusts US President Donald Trump’s peace plan for Gaza.

In Barcelona, a protest in solidarity with Gaza and in defense of the flotilla continues. It was set up this Thursday near the World Trade Center in the Catalan capital, with some 30 tents that they intend to maintain permanently.

The protest, according to its organizers, aims to extend until October 15, when a strike with walkouts at workplaces has been called.

As in other public institutions, the Spanish Ministry of Health building displays a large Palestinian flag with the slogan “Stop genocide. With human rights and the right to health.”

Separately, statements from Spanish unions called for rallies and marches throughout the country.

Lawyers and diplomats are currently trying to help citizens detained by Israel and seek their repatriation. And they will initiate legal proceedings for the boarding of ships from the Global Sumud Flotilla by Tel Aviv regime personnel on a humanitarian mission.
