During the demonstration, organized by the international network “All Gaza, All Palestine” and the collective “Syrians with Palestine,” participants chanted slogans in support of the activists sailing with food and medicine to Gaza.
They also burned an Israeli flag in a sign of rejection of what they described as acts of piracy committed by the Zionist regime’s navy in international waters.
The protesters demanded that the international community assume its responsibility to protect the Palestinian civilian population and the flotilla participants, who were attacked in flagrant violation of international law.
The coordinator of the international network “All Gaza, All Palestine,” Omar Ghafir, stated that the protest in Damascus is part of a global campaign spanning more than 100 countries and that “it remains steadfast in its support for the activists sailing toward the Gaza Strip with the aim of breaking the Israeli siege.”
The flotilla represents a comprehensive humanitarian expression and a legitimate act to alleviate the suffering of Gazans, Ghafir emphasized, condemning the blockade as an illegal and criminal measure.
The Steadfastness Flotilla, made up of dozens of vessels carrying activists from multiple countries, was attacked last Wednesday by the Israeli navy in international waters, sparking a wave of global outrage and renewed calls for active solidarity with the Palestinian cause.
