Bolivia hosts 17 observer missions for presidential elections

La Paz, Oct 14 (Prensa Latina) Bolivia is hosting on Tuesday 17 international election observation missions, along with two national ones for the October 19 runoff, Gustavo Avila, a spokesperson of the Supreme Electoral Tribunal (TSE), said.

“There are already 19 election observation missions in our country.

We have nearly 17 international missions and two national ones: Jubileo and Observa Bolivia,” he said in an interview with the Fama Poder y Ganas program regarding the election between presidential candidates Rodrigo Paz, of the Partido Democrata Cristiano (Christian Democratic Party-PDC), and Jorge Tuto Quiroga, of the Alianza Libertad y Democracia (Freedom and Democracy Alliance-Libre).

Avila recalled that the European Union (EU) accompanied elections in Bolivia in 2006, 2009, 2014, 2019, 2020, and the August 17 first round.

He informed that, for the runoff, 32 long-term observers have already been deployed to nine Bolivian departments.

He added that a group of 44 short-term observers arrived in this nation this weekend to reinforce the observation tasks.

A European Parliament delegation, made up of six representatives from different political parties, will join the mission in the days before the elections.

The electoral calendar states that the propaganda campaigns will conclude this Wednesday, when the political campaigning will come to a halt on Thursday.
