Chilean candidates present programs at business meeting

Santiago, Chile, Oct 14 (Prensa Latina) Chile's presidential candidates participate on Tuesday in the traditional National Business Meeting (ENADE) to present their programs to address major challenges such as growth, employment, and security.

President Gabriel Boric will deliver, from Rome, a virtual speech at the event, bringing together representatives from the political, business, civil society, and academic world.

The forum will be structured in three sections, and among the key figures are Holger Paulmann, president of the Chilean Institute for Rational Business Administration (ICARE); and Susana Jimenez, head of the Confederation of Production and Commerce (CPC).

The second part will include Finance Minister Nicolas Grau and Comptroller General Dorothy Perez.

With hardly a month remaining for the presidential and legislative elections, the most anticipated moment will be announcing the nominees for the La Moneda Presidential Palace, a position for which eight candidates are vying.

According to the organizers, Jeannette Jara, Jose Antonio Kast, Evelyn Matthei, Johannes Kaiser, Franco Parisi, Harold Mayne-Nicholls, and Marco Enriquez Ominami have confirmed their participation.

The first round of elections in Chile will take place on November 16, and the runoff is scheduled for December 14.

Polls show that Jara, representing a coalition of eight leftist, progressive, and social-democratic parties plus the Christian Democrats (DC), leads votes, followed by Kast, of the far-right Partido Republicano (Republican Party), and Matthei, of the traditional right-wing Chile Vamos (Let’s Go Chile) coalition.
