Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian reported that the meeting, scheduled for today and tomorrow, will address bilateral issues and international issues of common interest.
Lin emphasized that China and France are permanent members of the UN Security Council and major powers that defend independence and multilateralism.
He recalled that last May, President Xi Jinping held a telephone conversation with his French counterpart, Emmanuel Macron, in which the two agreed to strengthen strategic communication, promote multilateralism, and contribute to global peace and stability.
“China hopes that this new round of dialogue will deepen exchanges, consolidate mutual trust, and expand cooperation to promote the continued development of the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries,” the spokesperson emphasized.
The strategic dialogue between China and France is one of the main bilateral coordination mechanisms.
Established in 2001, it has contributed to strengthening political, economic, and scientific cooperation between the two nations.
