The event opened the day before at the Ñico López University of the Communist Party of Cuba, where political leaders, activists, political scientists, and intellectuals discussed experiences and research on the global challenges facing the left.
The first day featured the conference “Information and Media Manipulation. The Left Facing the Challenges of Quantum Artificial Superintelligence,” presented by Professor Ignacio Ramonet to an audience that included Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel.
Through his profile on X, the head of state highlighted the importance of the Meeting and considered it a fundamental forum for debate, with the purpose of articulating “our forces in a very dangerous global and regional context.”
Diaz-Canel participated in the post-conference debate and emphasized the need to maintain a systematic, dialectical exchange among leftist organizations.
He also urged turning ideas into trenches for the defense of just causes, and the publications of progressive organizations into an exercise in activism.
The event is dedicated to the centennial of leader Fidel Castro (1926-2016), which will be celebrated on August 13 of next year, and is sponsored by Cuba Socialist Magazine, the newspaper of the island’s Communist Party.
