According to the diplomatic source, Islamabad and Kabul agreed to the pact following recent clashes.
The day before, Pakistani armed forces attacked the Afghan province of Kandahar and Kabul, destroying key militant strongholds, according to state broadcaster PTV News.
Citing security sources, the news outlet stated that the operations were carried out in response to aggression from the neighboring country.
Officials justified military actions in Kabul with the leaders of Fitna al-Hindustan, a term used to designate militant networks operating in Balochistan.
They noted that all targets were carefully selected, isolated from civilian areas, and successfully destroyed.
However, Afghan officials reported heavy fighting with Pakistani troops along the Durand Line in the Terewo and Wurmamay districts of southeastern Paktika province.
Likewise, Zabihullah Mujahid, chief spokesman for the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, wrote in X that 12 civilians were killed and more than 100 wounded in Pakistani attacks in Kandahar province.
He added that Afghan forces were forced to launch a counteroffensive.
“As a result,” Mujahid stated, “a large number of Pakistani soldiers were killed, their posts and bases were captured, weapons and tanks were confiscated, and most of their military installations were destroyed.”
