According to reports from the national news agency SANA, an Israeli military unit of 11 vehicles entered the town and established a temporary checkpoint at its entrance, before withdrawing shortly afterward.
The action is a new violation of the 1974 Disengagement Agreement between Syria and Israel, as well as a flagrant violation of international law and the relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions, which reiterate the need to respect Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The Syrian government has repeatedly condemned these attacks and urged the international community to take a firm and active stance to halt the Israeli attacks, which have experienced a worrying intensification in recent days.
Local sources reported that during these incursions, house searches, patrols, and military operations were carried out without any known official justification, generating a climate of tension and rejection among local residents.
Since December 8, 2024, the Tel Aviv regime has carried out more than 1,000 airstrikes and around 400 ground operations in Syrian territory, according to Damascus authorities, who expressed their firm rejection of the Israeli presence in any part of their territory and reiterated their legitimate right to defend their sovereignty and integrity.
