Xi proposed the establishment of a World Artificial Intelligence Cooperation Organization to coordinate strategies, regulations, and technological standards that ensure the safe, fair, and beneficial use of AI for all humanity.
“The development of AI must be geared towards the well-being of all peoples and regions of the world,” the Chinese president underscored during his address at the 2nd session of the 32nd APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting, held in this South Korean city.
The head of Chinese State also emphasized the need to boost digital and green development as drivers of innovation and economic growth, and proposed accelerating cooperation on clean technologies and environmentally friendly products.
He noted that China has established the world’s largest and fastest-growing renewable energy system, with advancements in sectors such as new energy vehicles, lithium batteries, and photovoltaic panels.
Xi has funded the establishment of the APEC Sub-Fund on Promoting Digitalization in Green Transitions, which will support clean energy and low-carbon economy projects in the bloc’s member countries.
The Chinese president also advocated for inclusive growth that wipe out poverty and strengthens cooperation in small and medium-sized enterprises, food security, energy transition, and health, in accordance with the United Nations 2030 Agenda.
