Alvaro Ruiz confirmed that all 17 cabinet ministers will submit their resignations today during the final cabinet meeting led by President Luis Arce.
He stated that the president will preside over this meeting, during
which the ministers will resign, while the deputy ministers will
remain in their posts until the official handover of their offices.
“We, the 17 ministers, will submit our collective resignations on
November 5 during President Luis Arce’s final cabinet meeting,” Ruiz
reiterated in an interview with state television channel Bolivia TV.
He clarified, however, that they will accompany the president during
his final activities until November 7, and will subsequently leave the
Casa Grande del Pueblo (the seat of the Executive branch) “through the
front door.”
For his part, the Deputy Minister of Government Management, Gustavo Torrico, reported that Arce will accept the ministers’ resignations on Friday, November 7, since Rodrigo Paz, the winner of the October 19 runoff election, will assume the presidency
24 hours later.
He indicated that Arce “(…) is the President of the State until the
7th; on the 8th, our new President Rodrigo takes office, and only then
will the President accept the resignations and the transition take
place,” he explained.
