Four panel discussions: the first, on union work, following one on youth, then on women’s participation in social, union, and political life, and finally, on social movements, will take place before the closing ceremony at the Auditorium Theater of the Provincial Center for the Arts in Mar del Plata.
Under the slogan “For the Peoples’ Sovereignty, Against the Rightwing and Neoliberalism,” the commemoration recalls the “NO to the FTAA” in November 2005, when Mar del Plata became the continental epicenter with the People’s Summit, held parallel to the Ibero-American Summit, which marked a new horizon for Latin American integration.
One of the speakers at the closing ceremony is Rafael Freire, General Secretary of the Trade Union Confederation of the Americas (TUCA).
Others, such as Monica Valente, Executive Secretary of the Social and Popular Front; and Hugo Godoy, General Secretary of the Autonomous-Argentinian Trade Union (CTA-A), will also participate.
Other speakers will include Hugo Yasky, top leader of the CTA Workers Union; Alejandro Gramajo, General Secretary of the Union of Workers of the Popular Economy (UTEP); and Roberto Baggio, of the National Directorate of the Socialist and Workers’ Movement, among others.
One of the organizers of the two-day commemoration told Prensa Latina that Buenos Aires Province Governor Axel Kicillof will attend and speak at the closing ceremony.
Three Reflection and Debate Panels, one dedicated to reviewing the “Historical Significance of the 20 Years of the NO to the FTAA,” in which former Foreign Minister, former Defense Minister, and current National Deputy, Jorge Taiana, and Manuel Bertoli, representing the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America (ALBA), among others, participated, were held during the opening ceremony on Tuesday.
