The request, submitted by PT leader Lindbergh Farias in the Chamber of Deputies, cites contacts made by Castro’s administration with the government of US President Donald Trump to have the criminal faction Comando Vermelho (Red Command) classified as a terrorist organization.
Last week, CNN Brasil revealed that the Rio de Janeiro leadership delivered a report to the US Consulate in Rio, highlighting the gang’s expansion in the United States and demanding that it be designated a terrorist organization.
In a petition filed with the Attorney General’s Office, the Workers’ Party (PT) alleges that the governor conducted direct negotiations with Washington and the DEA, handing over confidential public security reports and requesting that the Comando Vermelho be classified as a narco-terrorist organization.
According to the political party, this initiative constitutes foreign interference in a matter that falls exclusively under the jurisdiction of the federal government and threatens the integrity of national security policy.
“By acting as an informant for a foreign government, Cláudio Castro violates Brazilian sovereignty and contravenes the federal pact,” the document emphasizes.
