Italian Foreign Minister attends COP30 Climate Summit in Brazil

Rome, Nov 6 (Prensa Latina) Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani traveled to the northern Brazilian city of Belém to represent his country at the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30), according to a report released.

A statement from the Italian Foreign Ministry indicates that the Deputy Prime Minister will have a full agenda at the forum, which runs from November 10 to 21.

In addition to participating in the debates, the agenda will include high-level meetings.

Tajani will visit the Italian Pavilion, located on the innovative AquaPraça floating platform, which was previously presented at the Venice Biennale in September of this year.

On this platform, which is part of the official COP30 spaces, the minister will meet with Italian business leaders operating in Brazil, a nation included in the Italian government’s Export Action Plan, the document states.

According to this official statement, at COP30, “Italy will reiterate its firm commitment to contributing to limiting global warming and will urge all Member States to combine ambition and realism, pursuing climate objectives with openness and innovation, but avoiding dogmatism.”

It is highlighted that Italy contributed to the outcome reached by the European Union’s environment ministers who, prior to COP30, confirmed the climate objective of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by between 66 and 72% by 2035, compared to 1990 levels.
