High-level G20-Africa dialogue to be held in Ethiopia

Addis Ababa, Nov 10 (Prensa Latina) The G20-Africa High-Level Dialogue on Debt Sustainability, Cost of Capital, and Financing Reforms will take place at the African Union (AU) headquarters.

The G20 Presidency, the South African government, in collaboration with the AU, convened the meeting under the theme “Strengthening the G20 Partnership with Africa,” building on the commitments made at the 4th International Conference on Financing for Development held in Seville, Spain, from June 30 to July 3.

The BRICS Declaration in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and ongoing African initiatives, including the African Leaders’ Debt Relief Initiative, also contributed to the discussion, according to a press release from the continental organization.

The dialogue, aligned with the AU’s Agenda 2063 and the global 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, will serve as a platform for senior officials and experts to challenge dominant narratives, exchange practical solutions, and articulate Africa-led proposals for structural reform in the global financial architecture.

Key objectives include highlighting the urgency of addressing Africa’s debt challenges and unsustainable financing costs in the context of post-COVID-19 recovery, climate transitions, declining multilateralism, and development finance gaps.
