China: Defense Ministry rejects Japanese PM’s comments
Beijing, Nov 14 (Prensa Latina) The Chinese Defense Ministry underscored that the recent statements by Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi regarding Taiwan were a serious interference in the country's domestic affairs.
Defense Ministry Spokesperson, Colonel Jiang Bin, stated that these comments contradicted the spirit of the four joint political documents and challenged the post-war international order.
Jiang further emphasized that the statements sent the wrong signal to forces promoting Taiwan independence.
He warned that Japan would pay a heavy price if it intervenes by force in the situation in the Taiwan Strait, while affirming that the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) will defend the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The Japanese head of Government suggested to the Diet (Parliament) that military action by China against Taipei could constitute an “existential crisis” for the Japanese nation, necessitating intervention by Tokyo.
Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Lin Jian affirmed that the Japanese leader’s words were a blatant provocation and violated the One-China principle, the four joint political documents, and the basic regulations of international relations.
