President Cyril Ramaphosa underscored that the African nation, as a host and rotating presidency of the forum, will promote a “Leaders’ Declaration” aimed at fostering inclusive development for the continent and developing countries.
“South Africa intends to draft an ambitious document that reflects the priorities of the Global South and places economic and social justice at the center of the global agenda,” the president affirmed before Parliament.
The Ministry of International Relations and Cooperation noted that the summit will bring together heads of State and Government from the world’s leading economies, in a context marked by geopolitical tensions and global challenges such as climate change, food security, and technological transformation.
The South African Foreign Ministry recalled that Pretoria’s G20 presidency, assumed in December 2024, has been guided by the principle of international solidarity and the pursuit of consensus.
