Bali closes celebrations of 65th anniversary of Indonesia-Cuba relations (+Photo)

Jakarta, Nov 15 (Prensa Latina) Commemorative events marking the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Indonesia and Cuba concluded successfully in the well-known island of Bali on Saturday.

Taking place at Casa del Habano (Habanos House) in Bali, the celebration coincided with the 1st anniversary of the franchise’s operation there, which specializes in the sale of Cuban cigars, a symbol that, according to Cuban Ambassador to Indonesia, Dagmar Gonzalez, deeply unites the people of both nations.

The Cuban diplomat emphasize that the history of Jakarta-Havana ties, founded on mutual respect and solidarity, began remarkably.

Gonzalez remembered that the meetings of legendary figures such as Indonesia’s first President, Sukarno; the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro; and Commander Ernesto “Che” Guevara marked the beginning of this relationship.

The ambassador said, “We have shared, in these 65 years, fundamental values such as dignity, self-determination, sovereignty, solidarity, and the defense of the Global South, and these same principles have guided our cooperation in international forums.”

The commemorative events for the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Cuba and Indonesia started on January 22 in Jakarta and culminated at the Casa del Habano in Bali, this time in the presence of Gonzalo Alvarez, Commercial Director of the Pacific Cigar Company.
