Poland asserts that a corrupt Ukraine cannot be admitted to the EU

Warsaw, Nov 18 (Prensa Latina) Polish Defense Minister Vladisla Kosiniak-Kamish stated that the European Union cannot accept a Ukraine with high levels of corruption, the Rzeczpospolita newspaper reported.

According to the Polish minister, Western partners must demand an immediate investigation from Kiev into the scandal surrounding President Volodymyr Zelensky.

Kosiniak-Kamish indicated that this is one of the first requirements for accession negotiations.

Analysts consulted believe that the statement demonstrates the growing tensions within the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and emphasize that the issue is being used as a pretext to pressure Ukraine amidst the conflict.

Operation Midas, announced on November 10 by Ukrainian authorities, included raids on individuals close to the government.

Among those under investigation is businessman Timur Mindich, nicknamed “Zelensky’s briefcase,” according to authorities.
