Vietnam: Parliament approves four judiciary-related laws

Hanoi, Nov 26 (Prensa Latina) Vietnam's National Assembly (Parliament), gathered in its 10th ordinary session, approved on Wednesday by majority vote four judiciary-related laws, which will come into effect on July 1, 2026.

The laws passed by the Vietnamese legislature this Wednesday are Law on Extradition, Law on the Transfer of Persons Serving Prison Sentences, Law on Mutual Judicial Assistance in Civil Matters, and Law on Mutual Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters.

In the case of Law on Extradition, it establishes the principles, competent authority, conditions, and procedures for carrying out this process between Vietnam and other countries, as well as the responsibilities of national state agencies in its implementation.

Vietnam’s Ministry of Public Security will act as the central coordinating body, handling information exchange, receiving case files, and managing assistance requests.

The Vietnamese legislature will debate this Wednesday the draft Law on National Reserves (amended), which aims to improve the legal framework, promote decentralization and the delegation of powers, and boost the application of science, technology, and innovation.

It aims to release and use effectively all legal resources allocated to national reserves, VNA reported, and added that the planned amendments focus on the scope of regulation, the entities subject to its application, provisions on state management, and administrative principles.
