Cuba: Climate talk opens British culture week

Havana, Nov 28 (Prensa Latina) A talk on climate with scientists from Cuba and the United Kingdom opens British Culture Week on Friday, which unites art and nature conservation in this 13th edition.

Representing the United Kingdom are Royal Botanic Gardens scientist Alex Monro and sustainable design architect John Osmond.

Cuban botanist Luis Roberto Torres and Professor Lourdes Mujica of the Faculty of Biology at the University of Havana are among the guests.

Taking place at La Quinta de los Molinos (The Farm of the Mills), home to one of Havana’s botanical gardens, also includes a parallel entrepreneurship fair.

Organized by the British Embassy in Cuba under the slogan “See Differently, There Are Alternatives,” the science-focused cultural week includes the workshop “Blue Future: Protecting Our Seas,” which will feature practical exercises with children and youth on marine conservation in urban contexts.

Visits to Vista Hermosa farm, dedicated to organic food cultivation, recycling workshops, papermaking demonstrations, science fairs, and screenings of films and animated shorts from Cuba and the United Kingdom are among the other attractions of the event, which runs until December 5.
