The hearing had been convened following a request for access to public information submitted by the Confederation of Indigenous Nationalities of Ecuador (CONAIE).
However, on Sunday, a judge agreed to postpone the session to a new date, which will be announced “in due course.”
The indigenous organization, which spearheaded the protests against the economic measures of the Daniel Noboa administration, is demanding that authorities reveal details of the operations carried out in Cotacachi and Otavalo, where Efrain Fuerez and Jose Alberto Guaman died.
Despite the hearing being scheduled, the Executive Branch requested a postponement, arguing that the case requires an “inter-institutional technical and legal assessment” and that the State needs more time to gather information and prepare its defense.
Conaie opposed the postponement and argued that entities such as the Presidency and the Ministry of Defense have large legal teams, so they cannot claim a lack of time.
