“Having a showcase of Cuban cinema in Nicaragua specifically seems essential to me because it is also how we learn to make films,” Hernandez told Prensa Latina after the film showcase closed on Sunday.
“Habana Selfies” (2019), “Bailando con Margot” (Dancing with Margot, 2015), and “Cinco Historias de Amor y un Boleron Desesperado” (Five Love Stories and A Desperate Bolero, 2024), all directed by Arturo Santana, were among the Cuban films screened in the Main Hall of the National Cinemateque of this nation.
“Habana Selfies” is an urban comedy of interwoven stories that attempts to capture contemporary life in the Cuban capital from multiple perspectives.
“Bailando con Margot” is a film set in Havana in 1958, which follows the story of Margot Fuentes, an elegant widow living amidst rumors and secrets.
Meanwhile, “Cinco Historias de Amor y un Boleron Desesperado” is a fiction film that explores love in the Cuban capital through five interconnected stories, delving into themes such as illusion, music, and emigration.
Cuban Ambassador to Nicaragua, Iliana Fonseca, stated that the film showcase is part of the initiatives to strengthen cultural ties between the two nations.
