The Interior Ministry announced via its official Telegram channel that the operations resulted in the seizure of small arms, ammunition, suicide belts, and improvised explosive devices. It also clarified the involvement of some members of the cell in the murder and subsequent burial of a civilian near the Ma’arrat Misrin town.
The Ministry added that during the operations, two members of the cell were killed after refusing to surrender their weapons, while the rest were arrested.
Idlib Internal Security Chief Ghassan Bakir stated that the operations were conducted in the Dana area, in the province’s northern region, and west of Idlib city, as part of the Interior Ministry’s campaign to track extremist organizations and cut off their sources of funding.
Bakir stated that the operation culminated in the seizure of several weapons, including explosive devices and belts, and yielded evidence linking several cell members to the murder of the civilian found in Ma’arrat Misrin.
He added that the detainees were handed over to the appropriate authorities for further investigation before being brought to justice.
