“The elections are not lost. The two-party system imposed its electoral scheme on us by manipulating the transmission of preliminary electoral results (known as TREP) and biometrics,” Moncada stated at a press briefing at her party’s headquarters in Tegucigalpa.
She continued, I must add the ‘direct imperial foreign interference of US President Donald Trump, who announced a few hours before the elections the absolute pardon of drug trafficker Juan Orlando Hernandez,’ alluding to the pardon granted to the former Honduran president (2014-2022).
“A drug head convicted by themselves as the main co-conspirator who organized a criminal cartel to traffic more than 400 tons of cocaine to the United States,” the candidate emphasized regarding Hernandez, of the right-wing National Party (PN).
Moncada, who, according to partial results released by the electoral authority, is in third place -behind Nasry Asfura of the PN and Salvador Nasralla of the Liberal Party (PL)-, affirmed that she maintains her proposal to democratize the economy for social justice.
