The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) said this is a silent emergency for the public, but deafening for the children who experience it every day.
Blanca Carazo, head of international Programs at UNICEF Spain, recalled on Wednesday that millions of children have had to flee their homes and do not know if they could eat or receive medical care.
Additionally, this United Nations agency stated that the Sudanese healthcare system is on the verge of collapse, with several direct airstrikes on medical facilities, while access to aid remains severely limited.
Since mid-April 2023, Sudan has been embroiled in an internal war, following a power struggle between Army Chief, General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, and the leader of the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF), General Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo.
