Diaz-Canel congratulates members of Cuban student organization

Havana, Dec 6 (Prensa Latina) Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel congratulated the members of the Federation of Secondary School Students (FEEM), an organization celebrating its 55th anniversary today.

“Driven by the enthusiasm and dreams of young people, the Federation of Secondary School Students celebrates its 55th anniversary this December 6,” the head of state stated.

In a message on social media, Diaz-Canel affirmed that “it is comforting to know that it reaches this new age with a history of faithful support for the Revolution from which it was born.”

“It begins another anniversary with the principle that, in studying, lies the possibility of providing the deepest and most capable support that the Homeland deserves and needs,” he added.

Other authorities from the Caribbean nation also celebrated the FEEM’s anniversary, including the Secretary of Organization of the Central Committee of the Communist Party, Roberto Morales Ojeda, and the First Secretary of the Young Communist League, Meyvis Estevez Echeverria.

The FEEM emerged on December 6, 1970, as part of the process of strengthening mass organizations, with the aim of revitalizing the student movement in secondary education, according to official documents.

It was preceded by the Union of Secondary School Students and the Jose Antonio Echeverria Student Brigades, which contributed significant experience to the formation of the new organization whose main objective would be to channel students’ concerns.
