Early today, hooded individuals broke into the Seivara headquarters and vandalized the union leader’s offices.

This action, clearly politically motivated, is interpreted as an act of intimidation against union leaders opposed to the labor reform being promoted by the right-wing government of Javier Milei.

The attack occurred within the context of the national government’s encroachment on labor rights and just days before the march called by the CGT, the Buenos Aires PJ stated in a press release.

“The attempts to intimidate those who have expressed their rejection of all points of the IMF-backed labor reform bill championed by Federico Sturzenegger, Patricia Bullrich, and Milei are further proof that they are not seeking to debate workers’ conditions but rather to bring them to their knees and instill fear among those who oppose the sell-out, austerity measures, and labor deregulation,” the statement emphasizes.

The attack, which occurred during the week that the labor reform began to be debated in Congress, did not go unnoticed by union leaders, who immediately considered it an act of intimidation with clear political undertones.

In his statement, Jeronimo expressed that the attack is not an isolated incident, but rather occurs at a particularly sensitive time for the labor movement.

The CGT and the glassworkers’ union also issued separate statements condemning the attack and insisted that this vandalism “does not in any way alter the course of the labor movement” and its determination to defeat the labor reform of the right-wing government and the International Monetary Fund, which they see as an attack on workers’ rights. jdt/rc/mh
