Cuban province of Cienfuegos exceeds export plan in 2025

Cienfuegos, Cuba, Dec. 24 (Prensa Latina) Yanet Gonzalez Lazo, Director of Foreign Trade, Foreign Investment, and International Cooperation in the Cuban province of Cienfuegos, offered a positive assessment of the territory's export results for 2025.

Gonzalez Lazo highlighted that this year, “the production plan for exports was executed at 127.9%, generating revenue of 154.8 million pesos in national currency, a performance supported by the addition of eight new products to the export portfolio,” she told Prensa Latina.

She extoled the province’s participation in Exposur 2025 International Fair (May), Havana International Fair (November), and specially in the local fair Exposur where 185 agreements were reached, of which 153 have already been fulfilled and 32 are in progress.

These events served as a showcase for high-potential products, such as agricultural products and Cienfuegos handicrafts, which captured the interest of the embassies of Guyana and Uganda.

VA highlight of the year was the completion of exports through the “Jaime Gonzalez” International Airport in Cienfuegos, decentralizing and streamlining logistics, which have traditionally relied on other parts of the country.

Simultaneously, the Guyanese ambassador expressed strong interest in using the port of Cienfuegos for import and export operations, a possibility expected to materialize in early 2026.

France’s status as guest of honor at events in the region resulted in cooperation agreements that will finance social and productive projects, such as the “Vilma Espin Guillois” Autism School, several buildings belonging to the Central Organization of Cuban Workers in this area, and an agroecological farm in the municipality of Palmira, among other achievements.
