Mexican party supports strengthening cooperation with Cuba

Mexico City, Dec. 24 (Prensa Latina) The Labor Party (PT) highlighted the Mexican government's stance on its relationship with Cuba and expressed its full support for strengthening strategic cooperation between the two nations.

“The Labor Party expresses its full support for the foreign policy of the Mexican government, led by President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, based on solidarity, the free self-determination of peoples, and cooperation for development,” the political party stated.

In a press release, it pointed out that a clear example of this is the recent collaborative efforts with Cuba in the energy and health sectors, which it considers fundamental pillars for regional stability and the well-being of both peoples.

It emphasized that the relationship “is governed by legitimate bilateral agreements that generate tangible benefits, recognizing the importance of hydrocarbon support and technical assistance from the CFE (Federal Electricity Commission) in the face of crises arising from natural disasters.”

In his view, these actions not only help prevent a larger humanitarian crisis on the island (besieged by an economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by the United States), but also position Mexico as a leader of solidarity and stability in the region.

He noted that Cuban medical collaboration has been a determining factor in guaranteeing access to healthcare in the most vulnerable areas of this North American nation and recalled that specialists from the Caribbean country fill vacancies that had historically gone unattended.

The PT reiterated that these actions are carried out in strict adherence to the law and international treaties and rejected any attempt at interference or external criticism that seeks to undermine South-South Cooperation agreements.
