“I know that yesterday you had a very positive conversation with President Putin, in which bilateral issues, the situation in the region, and practical tasks to guarantee Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity—a key issue—were discussed,” Lavrov said at the start of negotiations with al-Shibani on Wednesday.
The Russian Foreign Minister emphasized that trade and economic relations between the two countries will continue to develop based on the principles established in recent decades.
“Fundamental agreements have been reached on how to develop our trade and economic relations for mutual benefit, based on the principles established in recent decades. This regular coordination, made possible by your visit, is very useful,” he noted. According to Lavrov, Russia is unconditionally committed to Syria’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and independence.
