“An important, though not the only, part of this work is the normalization of the operating conditions of the Russian and US diplomatic missions,” Gusarov stated in an interview with the newspaper Izvestia.
According to the diplomat, several rounds of talks between experts have already taken place, the latest of which has just concluded, and the importance of the results achieved should not be underestimated.
In his opinion, the parties made progress regarding the issuance of visas to diplomats and their travel within the host country.
“It’s not bad, but to seriously approach the task set by the presidents of stabilizing bilateral relations, the level of ambition on both sides must be considerably higher. For now, it must be noted that the negotiation process is progressing slowly and that its pace has slowed,” the Russian diplomat stated.
Furthermore, Gusarov continued, Moscow expects Washington to demonstrate the political will to resume air links between the two countries.
“Dialogue with the US side on resolving the enormous number of problems that have accumulated in recent years is ongoing,” he emphasized.
