Through his Telegram account, the high-ranking military officer indicated that the site was located as part of Operation Bolivarian Shield and was carried out by the Sixth Strategic Region of Integral Defense.
He detailed that they conducted patrols and aerial reconnaissance of the route and area in the Mata de Palma sector, Yapacana parish, Atabapo municipality, in the aforementioned state.
Hernandez specified that as part of the operation, they detected and destroyed materials and equipment used for illegal mining, such as 220-liter plastic containers filled with gasoline.
They also destroyed a roll of high-pressure hose, a metal mining sluice box, and two 13HP water pumps.
The head of the Ceofanb (Strategic Operational Command of the National Armed Forces) stated that these materials and equipment, which provide logistical support for illegal mining activities, are prohibited by the Venezuelan State under the Environmental Criminal Law, as they violate the legal framework, national security, and defense.
He concluded that the procedure was reported to the Public Prosecutor’s Office.
