Two journalists injured in Israeli airstrike in southern Lebanon

Beirut, March 19 (Prensa Latina) Two journalists were injured today in an Israeli airstrike on the Qasmiyeh Bridge over the Litani River in southern Lebanon, while covering the damage caused by a previous bombing.

According to witnesses cited by news outlets, the journalists were initially harassed by an Israeli drone flying over the area before the aircraft launched a second direct attack on the bridge while one of them was broadcasting live.

Both the reporter and his cameraman were injured and taken to a hospital for medical treatment.

According to the Lebanese National News Agency, RT correspondent Steve Sweeney confirmed that he and his team were affected by the bombing.

Since early Thursday morning, Israeli forces have carried out airstrikes and artillery bombardments against at least 19 locations in southern Lebanon, as part of the military escalation in the region.

Lebanese authorities reported that since the start of this new phase of the aggression on March 2, there have been 968 deaths, 2,432 injuries, and more than one million displaced persons.

The escalation comes after Hezbollah attacks against Israeli military targets in northern Lebanon, in response to continued Israeli attacks on Lebanese territory, despite the existence of a ceasefire agreement.
