The signatories of the document reaffirmed their commitment to defending their homeland, which they consider “the greatest honor and supreme duty of every Cuban,” according to a statement released by the diplomatic mission.
“We’re a people of peace, firm in our determination to defend the independence and sovereignty of our country at any cost,” they added.
Members of the Cuban medical brigade working in Dolisie, in the Congolese department of Niari, also signed the statement.
On April 16, during the celebration of the 65th anniversary of the proclamation of the Socialist character of the Cuban Revolution, President Miguel Diaz-Canel, speaking from Havana, convened this national and international initiative of denunciation and solidarity.
The call urged condemnation of the United States’ blockade and economic war against Cuba, described as an act of genocide; and also repudiated the policies of hatred and the continuous threats of military aggression against the Caribbean nation.
