The sole partner of the private company, Miguel Alejandro Torres Pavon, explained that they have a contract with the Parranda Brewery for the collection of bottles in eastern Cuba. This partnership has allowed them to achieve a 70 percent recycling rate in the production of this commercial entity.
The entity processes between 900,000 and one million bottles of various sizes monthly. After collection, the containers are pressed into 300-kilogram bales for subsequent transport to the processing industry, as detailed by worker Daniel Mesa Romero.
For her part, Marinelis Torres Pavon, administrator of the Nuevo Mundo company, highlighted the implementation of the Puntos Monedero web platform. This digital strategy facilitates customer payments at collection centers using a virtual currency for purchasing products at authorized points of sale.
Nuevo Mundo is one of four entities of its kind in Cuba with the capacity to expand recycling infrastructure and boost exports.
The initiative integrates the maintenance of industrial facilities and the cleaning of areas, consolidating the role of non-state management models in local development.
The production process involves managers and collectors at purchasing centers and daily collection points. This work transforms solid waste management into a stable source of income while directly contributing to environmental protection in the region.
