The eye is overwhelmed by the sight of drones of all types and everywhere, a hallmark of modern warfare, first seen in the conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia in 2020, but developed on a large scale and decisively in the conflict in Ukraine.
Although few concrete figures are being discussed at the start of the five-day “war exhibition” in the Villepinte district of the Paris region, specialists quoted by French media expect multimillion-dollar contracts to be signed.
At the opening of what is considered one of the world’s largest military equipment exhibitions, French Defense Minister Catherine Vautrin witnessed a dynamic demonstration by the national army in a low-intensity conflict scenario.
“The war in Ukraine continues to weigh heavily on the security of our entire continent,” the minister stated, shortly after President Emmanuel Macron’s remarks regarding Paris’s firm commitment to maintaining its military support for Kiev.
Last March, the Council of Europe approved €90 billion in financial aid for Ukraine, the vast majority of which is earmarked for supplying Kyiv with weapons for its confrontation with Russia.
Anti-drone systems now “have a much greater presence” in the products of Rheinmetall, the German tank giant, acknowledged Mathieu Dumontet of Rheinmetall Canada, quoted by the French news channel France 24.
