At the VIII CELAC Energy Ministers Meeting, Cuba’s Deputy Minister of Energy and Mines, Argelio Abad, denounced the energy embargo against his country, imposed by an executive order signed by US President Donald Trump.
Abad explained the scope of the oil embargo, which has prevented a single ship carrying fuel contracted on the international market from entering Cuban ports for more than three months.
This represents a total paralysis of imported supplies, he noted, describing the situation as “unprecedented and devastating.”
Despite having recovered and having more than 1,100 MW of distributed generation available, we are unable to put them into operation due to a complete lack of fuel, he wrote on his account on X.
“It’s not a technical problem, it’s the blockade at its worst,” he stated.
