Held under the theme “For creative development and collaborative, sustainable innovation,” the event will take place in both in-person and virtual formats from this Tuesday through October 1st.
Congress coordinator Jesus Lopez noted that, despite the complexities facing the largest Caribbean archipelago, 671 participants are attending, including representatives from various nations across Latin America and Europe.
Lopez emphasized that University-Society 2026 offers an opportunity to connect different societal stakeholders with concrete, science-based solutions.
The program’s main topics focus on tourism development, science applied to agricultural programs, and environmental education for sustainable tourism, he remarked.
Lopez, who is also a professor at the University of Matanzas, stated that the aim is to use the results of this edition to foster a program that translates into a more active link between society and science.
The fourth edition of the University-Society International Congress 2026 serves as a means to promote and encourage Cuban science in pursuit of a better future for the nation.
