Cuba and Dominican Republic reaffirm inter-party cooperation

Havana, Oct 8 (Prensa Latina) Roberto Morales, a member of the Political Bureau and Organization Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC), met with Miguel Mejia, Secretary General of the United Left Movement (MIU) of the Dominican Republic.

During the meeting, both parties agreed that Mejia’s presence in Havana would help enrich the Exchange and Cooperation Agreement signed by the two organizations in 2024.

Ties between the PCC and the MIU are grounded in cooperation and dialogue, within a framework that Morales Ojeda deemed favorable for consolidating the bonds of friendship and brotherhood between the peoples of Cuba and the Dominican Republic.

For his part, speaking to the press after the meeting, Mejia condemned the blockade imposed on Cuba, describing it as a “silent genocide.”

The MIU Secretary General also linked the visit to the recent expulsion of Cuban diplomats from the Dominican Republic.

“Our presence here also serves as a gesture of redress regarding the expulsion of Cuban diplomats from the Dominican Republic, which was carried out without any justification,” he said.

The visit reaffirms the support and solidarity of the Dominican Republic’s United Left Movement with Cuba and continues the cooperative ties between the two political organizations.
