In a statement released for the occasion, the Jose Marti National Association of Cubans Residing in Brazil (ANCREB-JM) extended greetings to artists, writers, intellectuals, educators, cultural workers, and the Cuban people—both on the Caribbean island and abroad.
The association underscored that culture embodies memory, identity, resistance, and hope, while reflecting the diversity of Cuban roots and the creativity of a people whose history is inextricably linked to their aspirations for freedom and sovereignty.
For Cubans living in Brazil, keeping their cultural expressions alive serves as a way to keep ties to their homeland, pass on traditions to new generations, and share the richness of the Caribbean nation’s music, literature, dance, and thought with Brazilian society.
The ANCREB-JM also reaffirmed its commitment to dialogue between peoples and to strengthening the bonds of friendship between Cuba and Brazil through a mutual understanding of their respective cultures.
In this regard, the organization views culture as a bridge that connects Cubans both on and off the island, strengthens their sense of belonging, and helps keep national roots alive, regardless of geographical distance.
