The lawmaker, a member of the Rede Sustentabilidade (Sustainability Network) party, left the Vila Nova Star Hospital in Sao Paulo, where he had been treated for the heart condition that led to his hospitalization early Monday morning.
Prior to his hospital admission, Janones had accompanied Lula during the first televised debate—which featured Senator Flavio Bolsonaro and aired Sunday on the Bandeirantes network—as part of the campaign for the presidential runoff election, scheduled for October 25.
Upon leaving the hospital, the congressman stated that he would return to his activities with renewed energy, urging his team to keep working through the final days of the electoral race.
“I have to keep working during this final stretch, while making sure to eat and stay hydrated. But, from what I know so far, it wasn’t anything serious—nothing that requires further medical care. I’m back at full strength,” the legislator affirmed, according to statements reported by Agencia Brasil.
Janones is the creator and administrator of the WhatsApp channel “Exercito do Lula” (“Lula’s Army”), a platform used to communicate with and mobilize the president’s supporters, boasting over 5.6 million followers.
Janones’ recovery comes at a critical moment for the president’s campaign, which is focused on mobilizing its base and broadening electoral support ahead of the vote next Sunday.
